Bagnut or Dogel (bagel + donut)

Bagels and donuts both have holes in them—what if they could be combined? “Bagnut” and “doughngel” were cited in print in 2003. “Dogel” was cited in print in 2008. “He just stood in line for hours to get a much-hyped ‘bagnut’’— half bagel, half doughnut” was cited in print in May 2014, in a review of an episode of the television show Orange Is the New Black. ” Bagnut (or Dogel)” was listed in a June 2014 BuzzFeed article, “13 Foods That Should Exist. And some that definitely shouldn’t.”

The bagnut/dogel is mostly just a made-up food name, although the product has been attempted by some bakers. One variation is literally half a bagel and half a donut. “Introducing the bagnut: a doughnut with melted cream cheese. History has been made” was cited on Twitter on April 11, 2014.

Halfbakery
Doughnut-Bagel Hybrid
Part doughnut, part bagel

It’s got the texture and heft of a bagel, but the sugar coating and jam filling of a doughnut*. For added kick, you can toast it and apply cream cheese.
It would be called either “bagnut” or “doughngel”.
*or chocolate coating and custard filling
