A “barkery” (bark + bakery) provides baked treats for animals (especially dogs). A riddle was printed in a 1989 book:

A: At a barkery.

Gourmet treats for dogs (and horses!) are available from Bugsy & Basset, a 6-month-old catering business unleashed by Roberta Rasori and Laura Starnino. First they went to dog shows with their veterinarian-approved, preservative- free products, which range from $2.50 dog popsicles (with a rawhide stick) to a $4.99 dog-biscuit line (featuring 10 flavours including Three Cheese and Peanut Butter and Jelly). Now their “barkery/ patte- isserie” is delivering products to pet-supply stores around Montreal and at one Ottawa location.

NEW WINDSOR - Gary Capodieci said he has been vigilant about his diet for the past 20 years.
 
On Sunday, Capodieci took plenty of time reading the ingredient labels on dog food and treats at the New Windsor Barkery, a new pet boutique on Blooming Grove Turnpike that features natural, healthy products.
