The 2019–20 coronavirus pandemic resulting in the cancellation of major professional sporting events. The ESPN sports network didn’t have much to broadcast.

People fought in stores (such as Walmart) to buy toilet paper, creating a new sport. “Since no sports are being played over the weekend due to the coronavirus outbreak, @espn has announced that it will begin showing ‘#Walmart full contact toilet paper Wrestling”’ sponsored by #Charmin and Exlax” was posted on Twitter by Mark Nelms on March 13, 2020.

“Because of the cancellation of all sports events ESPN will be covering live toilet paper wrestling in the aisles at Walmart” was posted on Facebook by Bill Grant on March 14, 2020.
