“Before video games we had two world wars”

Does the violence in video games make the world a more violent place? “Before videogames, there were two world wars. Since videogames came along, no more world wars. What does that that tell you, eh?” was posted on the newsgroup alt.games.final-fantasy.rpg on July 21, 2000. “People were just as evil before video games came around. There were two world wars before video games existed” was posted on Twitter by Zach File on December 19, 2012.

But the quote “It is not clear whether or not his mom was with him to protect him from exposure to violence.” made me laugh.

Oh, and one more thing: Before videogames, there were two world wars. Since videogames came along, no more world wars. What does that that tell you, eh?

Hey, @MomsAgainstGam if videogames cause violence, why were there TWO World Wars and thousands of conflicts BEFORE video games?

Very few things get me pissed off as much as somebody blaming videogames for all the violence in the world. Because apparently violence never existed before video games or TV. The crusades, the holocaust, and two world wars to name a few, all before videogames.

I mean, we had two world wars plus a Cold War before video games were invented. So if anything, video games may have PREVENTED more wars 👍

Everyone who plays games knows it doesn’t cause mass violence… Yet we still feel the need to defend yourselves in this claim everyone knows isn’t true.
