“Big Apple or Die Tryin‘” (Pee-wee’s Big Holiday film, 2016)

“Big Apple or Die Tryin’” is what a sign said on the back of fictional character Pee-wee Herman’s car in the movie Pee-wee’s Big Holiday (2016). Herman, a resident of Fairville, wanted to travel to New York City to attend a birthday party.

“Enjoy the Big Apple ... or die trying!!” had been posted on a blog on July 4, 2007, but the “Big Apple or Die Trying” saying was not widely known before the 2016 movie.
