Birthplace of Texas (Deer Park nickname)

Deer Park (in Southeast Texas) has called itself “the birthplace of Texas.” The San Jacinto battlefield is near Deer Park; on April 21, 1836, the decisive victory of the Texans over the Mexican forces of Santa Anna at San Jacinto helped to create the Republic of Texas.

The “Birthplace of Texas” slogan was first used in 1990.
