Bongo Boulevard (51st Street, between Seventh Avenue and Broadway)

Syndicated newspaper columnist Walter Winchell (1897-1972) wrote in a column in March 1949:

“Sights You Never See on the New York Map: (...) ‘Bongo Blvd.’ (the short block on 51st between 7th and B’way), where the Latin bandsmen rendezvous.”

This location was not far from Latin Quarter nightclub (47th Street and Broadway) and Swing Street (52nd Street). The name “Bongo Boulevard” does not have any other known citations and is of historical interest today.
