Bushwickan (inhabitant of Bushwick, Brooklyn)

“Bushwickan” is the name of an inhabitant of Bushwick, in the borough of Brooklyn. The name “Bushwickan” has been cited in print since at least 2009. “Bushwickan” is infrequently used, possibly because of its similarity to “wiccan” (someone who practices witchcraft). However, “Bushwickans” was used in a headline in The Brooklyn Paper on October 25, 2013.

An inhabitant of Bushwick is also called a “Bushwicker” or a “Bushwickian.”

BY DANIELLE FURFARO
