“Champagne is just ginger ale that knows somebody”

“I’ll stick with gin. Champagne is just ginger ale that knows somebody,” said the character “Hawkeye” Pierce in an episode ot the TV series M*A*S*H that aired on March 18, 1973. The episode was written by Larry Gelbart and Robert Klane. The line has been included in several books on drinks.
