“Cheers to a new year and another chance for us to get it right”

American media proprietor and talk show host Oprah Winfrey wrote in O, The Oprah Magazine for New Year’s Day 2004:

“Cheers to a new year and another chance for us to get it right.”

Oprah’s New Year’s toast has been included in many New Year’s Day quotation collections.

While it’s been said that a New Year’s resolution is something that goes in one year and out the other, I’d rather go along with television talk show host Oprah Winfrey, who said it best: “Cheers to a New Year and another chance for us to get it right.”

26 February 2006, Indiana (PA) Gazette, “Using the Internet to advantage your gardening” by Maureen Gilmer, pg. E-6, col. 1:

It waa Oprah who said that. But no truer words were ever said for gardeners.
