Cohencidence (Cohen + coincidence)

“Cohen” (Hebrew: כֹּהֵן, kōhēn, “priest”) is a common Jewish surname. “Cohencidence” (Cohen + coincidence) originally was used when discussing someone named Cohen. “It’s quite a Cohen-cidence that the unassuming family, living at 604 State street, should get its name in the newspapers so much” was printed in The Star-Independent (Harrisburg, PA) on July 24, 1909.

Since the early 2000s, the term “cohencidence” has involved a coincidence about Jews (who are not necessarily named “Cohen”). Pointing out that many industries are Jewish-owned (such as banking or the Hollywood entertainment industry) has been a frequent use of “cohencidence.”

“Cohencidence - A Jewish coincidence” was posted on the newsgroup soc.culture.jewish on May 2, 2009. “Both Twitter and Facebook Owned by jews Cohencidence?” was posted on Twitter by Jason on October 2, 2016. “#Cohencidence’ Hashtag Trends on Twitter Thanks to David Duke, Assorted Jew Haters” by Daniel J. Solomon was printed in the Forward on November 8, 2016. “Cohencidence A play on ‘coincidence’ and the common Ashkenazi Jewish surname Cohen. Used to imply that Jews are behind certain events or movements that are purported to be random or organic” was entered in the Urban Dictionary on October 28, 2018.

Wikipedia: Cohen (surname)
Cohen (Hebrew: כֹּהֵן, kōhēn, “priest”) is a surname of Jewish, Samaritan and biblical origins (see: Kohen). It is a very common Jewish surname (the most common in Israel), and the following information discusses only that origin. Of the four Samaritan last names that exist in the modern day, Cohen is one. Many Jewish immigrants entering the United States or United Kingdom changed their name from Cohen to Cowan (sometimes spelled “Cowen”), as Cowan was a Scottish name.

‘#Cohencidence’ Hashtag Trends on Twitter Thanks to David Duke, Assorted Jew Haters
By Daniel J. Solomon
November 8, 2016
The Jew hatred that has become such a striking feature of the internet made its first major breakthrough in early June. That was when users realized that neo-Nazis had developed a way to mark the presence of Jews on social media by enclosing their names in a set of triple parentheses, also known as the echo.

More recently, the ‘Cohencidence’ hashtag has been trending: It helps identify instances of Jewish power and root them in the notion that Jews work together, surreptitiously and with diabolical cleverness, to undermine the broader society in which they live.

Wrong!
There is near-universal support from both the GOP & Democrats in Congress for a Jewish ethnostate (Israel).
Jews are less than 2% of the U.S. population, yet they’re vastly overrepresented among those corrupting members of Congress. Cohencidence?
