“Come Early; Be Loud; Stay Late” (Longhorns slogan)

“Come early, be loud, stay late” is the slogan that University of Texas football coach Mack Brown (from 1998 to 2013) started. While Brown was at the University of North Carolina, it was “Come early, be loud, stay late, wear blue.” Brown brought it with him to Texas, changing it to “Come early, be loud, stay late, wear (burnt) orange with pride.” The first three are widely used, but the last is often left out.

The slogan has been popular with other colleges and also appears on an Auburn T-shirt.

The History of Texas Football (pg. 405)
Where Mackovic had tried to build a new tradition, Brown reached deep into the roots of Texas to align his program with the success of the past. The love affair with the Texas fans was instant. He spoke to more than 60 different groups, brining the message of “Come early…be loud…stay late…wear orange with pride.”
