“Conversation is a two-way street” (adage)

“Conversation is a two-way street” is a popular adage. A conversation is not a lecture or monologue with just one person talking.

“Remember that good conversation is a two-way street, so don;t hog the road” was printed in the Des Moines (IA) Sunday Register on November 18, 1951, in the column “Your Marriage” by Samuel G. and Esther B. Kling. “Conversation is a two-way street” often comes up in a marriage context. It is possible that the Klings (syndicated newspaper columnists) popularized the saying.
