Coronial (someone conceived during the time of the coronavirus)

The 2019–20 coronavirus pandemic led to quarantines, and many people speculated that there would be a baby boom nine months later. The generation was referred to as “Coronial.”

“They will be called Coronials. Ugh hate them already” was posted on Twitter by CW Griswald on March 8, 2020. “We should call kids born between 2020 and 2025 #Coronials” was posted on Twitter by #SilverArrow on March 9, 2020. “Eventually, everyone will be quarantined to their houses with no sports to watch.. and in 9 months from now a boom of babies will be born.. and we will call them the coronials” was posted on Facebook by Mike Kakonyi on March 12, 2020.

“Coronial”—from “coroner”—has a different meaning.

“Quaranteen” (quarantine + teen) and “Children of the quarn” are similar terms.

#COVID19 With the current quarantines, if in 9+ months there is a surge of the number of births, we’ll have to call that new generation the “Coronials”.

“They will most likely be known as the “Coronial Generation,” explained demographer Dr. Edmund Fitzgerald at the pre-publication press conference, held online early Wednesday morning. All city council members were invited to log in to the virtual meeting.

“The Coronials will include all those born in December of 2020, and, unless the pandemic ends quickly, the early months of 2021.”
