“Creativity is intelligence having fun”

“Perhaps imagination is only intelligence having fun” was written by George Scialabba (Class of 1969) in Harvard Magazine in 1983. The citation was quoted in The Reader’s Digest. “That’s what creativity is — intelligence having fun” was cited in Joey Reiman’s Success, the Original Hand Book (1992). “Creativity is intelligence having fun. — Anonymous” was cited in a 1994 book.

“Imagination is intelligence having fun. –-  Albert Einstein” was cited in 2007 and “Remember what Einstein said: ‘Creativity is just intelligence having fun’” was cited in 2008. There is no evidence that German-born theoretical physicist Albert Einstein (1879-1955) ever said the quotation.
