“Depresso: When you’ve run out of coffee”

“Depresso: When you’ve run out of coffee” is a jocular line that was cited on Twitter on November 25, 2012. “Depresso” is a portmanteau of “depression” and “espresso.”

“Deepresso” coffee is a Japanese product that is sometimes included with the “depresso” joke.

“Depresso: the feeling you get when you’ve run out of coffee. Represso: when you refuse to talk about it” is a longer saying.

DEPRESSO(tm), the sad coffee of Japan
CocaCola/Georgia put together into DEEPPRESSO My friend ‘Mulboyne’ gave me a link to the world’s saddest coffee, DEPRESSO aka DEEPPRESSO(tm) . With a depressing name like that, first I thought it was someone’s lettering project and having fun with an Exacto knife or a some kid with Photoshop skills. It turns out the product’s full name is “Deep Presso” which CocaCola/Georgia crammed together into DEEPPRESSO. CocaCola Japan sells other “Presso” such as “Bitter Presso PREMIUM Mocha.”

This Japanese makers of this coffee-in-a-can have either spiked it with Prozac or not bothered to ask a native English speaker what other connotations “deep pressed” would have. All I know is, I’m totally bummed out and I don’t know why.
