Detroitocrat (Detroit + Democrat)

The city of Detroit, Michigan, was mostly run by members of the Democratic Party in the 50 years before Detroit declared for bankruptcy on July 18, 2013. “Detroitocrat” can mean a Detroit “bureaucrat,” but the term has been used to mean Detroit “Democrat”—and not simply a Democrat from Detroit, but Democratic Party policies that lead to government bankruptcy.

“Detroitocrats” was used in July 2006, but this use appears to mean “Detroit bureaucrat.” “Detroitocrat” (Detroit + Democrat) has been in use since at least July 2013. The conservative blog Doug Ross @ Journal used “Detroitocrat Party” (for Democratic Party) on October 18, 2013.

NEWS FLASH: There Is No Split In the Republican Party
(...)
A political battle is coming for the GOP. And it is not between factions of the grassroots; it is instead between the grassroots and an out-of-touch leadership structure that is just as doomed as the Detroitocrat Party.

It’s fun to call Democrats Detroit-o-crats and then watch their faces turn into mottled shades of red and purple once their reptilian brains process all of the syllables.
