The joke went viral in 2012. “Did you hear about the kidnapping at the elementary school? It’s ok, he woke up” was cited on Twitter on July 5, 2012. “Anyone hear about the kidnapping at school? Oh, he’s awake now” was cited on Twitter on July 10, 2012.
