DLTDHYOTWO (Don’t Let The Door Hit You On The Way Out)

“Don’t let the door hit you on the way out” is a sarcastic expression said to someone in business or in politics who is leaving business or politics. A spring door can hit someone in the behind if that person doesn’t exit fast enough. The saying “don’t let the door hit you on the way out” has been cited in print since at least 1963. There are many variants that refer to the rear end, such as “Don’t let the door hit you where the good lord split you!”
 
The letters “DLTDHYITAOTWO” (Don’t Let The Door Hit You In The Ass On The Way Out) have been cited in print since at least 1995. The letters “DLTDHYOTWO” (Don’t Let The Door Hit You On The Way Out) have been cited in print since at least 1998.
