“Dogs have masters, cats have staff”

“Dogs have owners, cats have staff” (or “Dogs have masters, cats have staff”) is a saying that has been printed on many images.

“Dogs have masters, cats have staff” was posted on the newsgroup rec.crafts.textiles.quilting on May 6, 1997. “Spotted on a bumper sticker the other day ‘Dogs have Owners, Cats have Staff’” was posted on the newsgroup rec.pets.cats.anecdotes on May 28, 1998. Authorsip is unknown.

The saying implies that dogs serve people, but people serve cats. Dogs will do work, but cats will assign work for others to do. It is just a lighthearted saying and is not necessarily true.
