“Don’t be dismayed, be disjuned”

The word “dismay” has nothing to do with the month of May, but there are jokes.

“Good morning, everyone. It’s June 1.  We are disMAYed” was posted on Twitter by El Gecko on June 1, 2009. “I wasnt dismayed, i was disjuned” was posted on Twitter by LouiXIV on July 2, 2011. “Don’t be dismayed, be disjuned” was posted on Twitter by thing ministries on December 6, 2012. “RT @BleesusCrice: I remember back in June, I replied to a hotep nigga ‘be not dismayed….cause dis June’” was posted on Twitter by Kev on October 13, 2015.

“IS IT OK TO BE DISMAYED ON JUNE 1ST?” was shown on a 2015 image with the Philosoraptor. “‘It’s June already?!’ said Tom, dismayed” was posted on Reddit—Tomswiftly on February 3, 2017.

“It’s June 1st! We’re all dismayed” was posted on Reddit—Dadjokes on June 1, 2021.

“The government just banned the fifth month of the calendar year. Everyone was dismayed” is a related joke.

Wikipedia: May
May is the fifth month of the year in the Julian and Gregorian calendars and the third of seven months to have a length of 31 days.
(...)
May (in Latin, Maius) was named for the Greek Goddess Maia, who was identified with the Roman era goddess of fertility, Bona Dea, whose festival was held in May. Conversely, the Roman poet Ovid provides a second etymology, in which he says that the month of May is named for the maiores, Latin for “elders,” and that the following month (June) is named for the iuniores, or “young people” (Fasti VI.88).
