“Don’t blame the baker when the butcher bakes the bread”

In the movie 7 Seconds (2005). the Russian character Alexsie Kutchinov (played by Pete Lee-Wilson) says:

“We have a saying in my country: ‘Don’t blame the baker when the butcher bakes the bread.’”

The saying means that there are specialists (such as a baker and a butcher), and you shouldn’t expect a specialist to be competent outside of that specialty. The saying was first cited in this film and does not appear to come from Russia or anywhere else. The screenwriter was Martin Wheeler.

I ain’t a President. I ain’t in charge of any Country. The biggest mistake one would make is to blame the baker when the butcher man bakes bread.
I hope you understand.
