“Don’t stress. Do your best. Forget the rest”

"Don’t stress. Do your best. Forget the rest” is an inspirational saying that has been printed on many images. “DO your best, forget the rest” was printed in a 1915 newspaper, and “Do your best and forget the rest” was printed in a 1919 newspaper.

“Do Your Best And Forget The Rest.’ -Tony Horton” was posted on Twitter by Craig Coleman on November 21, 2009.  American personal trainer and author Tony Horton (the creator of the commercial home exercise regimen P90X) wasn’t the first to say this, but he made it his mantra and popularized the saying in many exercise videos.

“Attention: College students out there studying for exams: Do your best & forget the rest! (Dont Stress)” was posted on Twitter by Rev Run on October 9, 2009. “Don’t stress. Do your best. Forget the rest” was posted on Twitter by Nancy Garcia and others on February 21, 2012. It’s likely that Rev Run’s saying was made into an image at this time.

Out in the world, my lad you’ll find
A different crowd of people
From those that habitate your mind
On top of fancy’s steeple --
But don’t despair --
Do your best
Forget the rest --
And you’ll get there.
