“Dry January is going well for me so far. I’ve not had a bath or a shower yet”

“Dry January” means a January without alcohol. It does not mean staying dry (without taking a bath or a shower), but there are jokes.

“Looks like my attempt to have a dry January has failed already. I had to have a shower this morning :(” was posted on Twitter by Daniel Farrelly on January 7, 2013. “Thank god dry January is finally over, 31 days without a shower has took some serious effort” was posted on Twitter by Brooketown on February 1, 2013.

“Dry January is going really well. Even if everyone keeps saying that I need to shower” was posted on Reddit—Jokes on January 16, 2017. “Impressed with myself for persisting with ‘Dry January’ 18 days in and still not had a shower or a bath” was posted on Twitter by Bob Kostic on January 19, 2018. “Dry January is going well for me so far. I’ve not had a bath or a shower yet” was posted on Twitter by Paul on January 6, 2021.

“My ‘dry’ January is Sauvignon Blanc” is another “Dry January” joke.

Wikipedia: Dry January
Dry January is a public health campaign urging people to abstain from alcohol for the month of January, particularly practised in the United Kingdom, France and Switzerland.

The campaign, as a formal entity, appears to be relatively recent, being described as having “sprung up in recent years” even in 2014. However, the Finnish government had launched a campaign called “Sober January” in 1942 as part of its war effort. The term “Dry January” was registered as a trademark by the charity Alcohol Concern in mid-2014; the first ever Dry January campaign by Alcohol Concern occurred in January 2013.
