“Enjoy life sip by sip, not gulp by gulp”

"Enjoy life sip by sip, not gulp by gulp” is a saying that has been printed on several images. The saying is from “The Minister of Leaves” by The REPUBLIC of TEA.

“The Republic of Tea is dedicated to finding and offering the finest teas and herbs on earth and to inspiring its citizens to enjoy life sip by sip, rather than gulp by gulp” was printed in The Book of Tea and Herbs:
Appreciating the Varietals and Virtues of Fine Tea and Herbs
(1993) by The Republic of Tea.

Tea Mind Today by The REPUBLIC of TEA
The Sip by Sip Lifestyle
When we set out to form our small Republic, we had a charter to create a Tea Revolution. Our not-so-covert agenda was to show through the metaphor of tea, the lightness of taking life Sip by Sip Rather Than Gulp by Gulp. We imagined a place of unparalleled tranquility—a place where life flows at a slower, more gentle pace. Tea, we found, put us in that place—in a state of mind and being far removed from a world made jittery from speed and change and the dark, oily opiate of roasted beans.

The Republic was launched in 1992 and soared to national prominence with its extensive line of rare and unusual black, green, Oolong, and herbal teas, which are sold in more than 1,500 specialty food, gift, and department stores.

While waiting to harvest my first crop, I’m getting some additional tea-tippling pointers from The Book Of Tea & Herbs (McClelland & Stewart, $16 paper) put out by the “Ministry of Information” for The Republic of Tea. The Republic of Tea is a highly-successful California-based company that supplies specialty teashops across North America and sells directly to the public by mail order.

This miniature corporate manual is an entertaining handbook—“enjoy life sip by sip rather than gulp by gulp”—from people who really care about the proper brewing of fine teas and herbs

This year, we celebrate our 30th Anniversary!  Founded in 1992, The Republic of Tea sparked a Tea Revolution.  Our mission was—and is—to see these teas steaming in the cups of men, women, & children everywhere & to emphasize a Sip by Sip Rather Than Gulp by Gulp lifestyle.
