“Why is lemon juice made with artificial flavor and dishwashing liquid made with real lemons?”

“Why is lemon juice made with artificial flavor and dishwashing liquid made with real lemons?” is a humorous question that has appeared on many joke lists since at least 1999. One answer is that the question states something that is not necessarily true—not all kinds of lemon juice have artificial flavor, and not all kinds of dishwashing liquid have real lemons. Artificial flavor might improve the taste of lemon juice, but no one would ever put “artificial flavor” in something not meant to be drunk or eaten.
