Wikipedia: Crème brûlée
Crème brûlée (/ˌkrɛm bruːˈleɪ/; French pronunciation: [kʁɛm bʁy.le]), also known as burned cream, burnt cream or Trinity cream, and similar to crema catalana, is a dessert consisting of a rich custard base topped with a texturally contrasting layer of hardened caramelized sugar. It is normally served slightly chilled; the heat from the caramelizing process tends to warm the top of the custard, while leaving the center cool. The custard base is traditionally flavored with vanilla in French cuisine, but can have other flavorings. It is sometimes garnished with fruit.

Wikipedia: Crème caramel
Crème caramel (French: [kʁɛm kaʁaˈmɛl]), flan, or caramel custard is a custard dessert with a layer of clear caramel sauce, contrasted with crème brûlée which is custard with a hard caramel layer on top.

Makes sense that the chicken would be holy - it IS the Pilgrims’ Menu after all… Smiling face with open mouthWinking face
“Flan” is apparently Spanish for crème brûlée, which is just a firm egg-custard - all the flavour is in the syrup.
Hope you find some better fare down the road!

I poured sugar on this creme brulee and torched it myself. I’m proud of it.
Also…this is my take: flan is just Mexican creme brulee. They taste about the same.
