“Forget about world peace. Visualize using your turn signal”

“Forget (about) world peace. Visualize using your turn signal” (also “World peace begins with your turn signal” and “World peace starts with using your turn signal”) is a jocular saying that has been printed on many images. Many drivers do not like to use their turn signals.

“Others liked a sticker that says ‘Visualize…Using Your Turn Signal’” was printed in the Denver (CO) Post on July 6, 1993. “Forget about World Peace ... Visualize Using Your Turn Signal!” was printed in The Herald (Jasper, IN) on December 18, 1996. “Bumper sticker of the week: ‘Forget World Peace—Visualize Using Your Turn Signal’” was printed in the Fort Worth (TX) Star-Telegram on December 21, 1996.

“World peace begins with your turn signal” (shown on a bumper sticker) was posted on Twitter by Zen Cyclist on August 20, 2013. “World Peace starts with using your turn signal” was posted on Twitter by alxrocks on June 14, 2022.

Okay, you guys have forced me to do it. This is my personal bumpersticker file. Except maybe it isn’t really mine. I stole it from the Denver Post. Anyway, here we go.

BUMPER STICKER FAVORITES
Don’t look now - your humor’s showing

O People like bumper stickers that make fun of the cosmic-consciousness nature of New Age philosophy. A good dozen callers said their favorite sticker was “Visualize Whirled Peas,” which is a parody of those “Visualize World Peace” stickers you see in hippie outposts where people only drive cars when not engaged in astral projection. Others liked a sticker that says “Visualize…Using Your Turn Signal,” which serves the same general purpose.
