“Goals follow goals” (soccer adage)

“Goals follow goals” is a soccer adage. There might be a long stretch without any scoring, but after a goal is scored, another one often follows soon after.

“Goals follow goals” has been cited in print since at least 2009. “But the old soccer adage ‘goals follow goals’ was in play on this day” was cited in 2011.

Head coach Babak Abouzar wasn’t pleased with his team’s slow start, but once Davila got the team on the board, the rest of the goals kept coming.

“We were sluggish the first five minutes, but [then] we scored a goal,” Abouzar said. “There’s a saying, ‘Goals follow goals,’ and they just happened for us.”
