“God made heaven and earth, and the rest was made in China” is a jocular saying that has been printed on posters. “God made the world…the rest was made in China” was cited in December 2007. “God made the heavens and the earth.  Everything else is made in China” was cited on Twitter on July 2, 2008.
 
“China makes and the world takes” is another saying about China’s industrial production.

The first grade CCD teacher explained to her class in great detail how God created everything out of love. “God made not only the moon and the sun and the stars,” she explained, “but also the trees and the flowers and the animals and all of us human beings. In fact, God made everything.” One of the children returned to class the following week and told the teacher, “God didn’t make everything. My mom said that half of what we have at home was made in China.”
