Goshen: Slow-Motion Goshen (nickname)

Goshen is a village with the town of Goshen; it is the country seat of Orange County, New York. Some have called the town “quiet” or “sleepy” and have nicknamed it “slow-motion Goshen.”

“Slow-motion Goshen” has been cited in print since at least 2003.

Wikipedia: Goshen (village), New York
Goshen is a village in and the county seat of Orange County, New York, United States. The population was 5,454 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Poughkeepsie–Newburgh–Middletown, NY Metropolitan Statistical Area as well as the larger New York–Newark–Bridgeport, NY-NJ-CT-PA Combined Statistical Area.

The village is within the Town of Goshen, some fifty miles northwest of New York City, on New York State Route 17 in the center of Orange County. Goshen is the home of the Harness Racing Museum & Hall of Fame, and hosted harness racing’s top event, the Hambletonian, from 1930 to 1956, at the former Good Time Park. Racing is still held at the Historic Track, a National Historic Landmark in the center of the village.

Goshen — It’s a bad day when the New York Post knocks on your door.

That’s the new bad-day barometer for Rena Strober, the 27-year-old chanteuse who sang and acted her way from what she calls “slow-motion Goshen” to the Great White Way.

Actually, that pretty much sums up my town. And it’s Slow-Motion Goshen. Well, Goshen has pretty much everything in that poem except for the water and ferries and junk like that. Very nice!

It was good growing up in a small town. And although it may be nicknamed Slow Motion Goshen by the teens and 20-somethings who find it boring, it is a pretty place.

Not bad, as they say, for a guy from the sleepy county seat that some wiseacres call Slow-Motion Goshen.
