“Hallowthanksmas” (or “Hallothanksmas”) is a portmanteau word that combines the holidays of Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Many people have noticed that when school starts in September, all three holidays are promoted at once.
   
“Hallowthanksmas” was printed in The Sun (Baltimore, MD) on October 31, 1963. “Hallowthanksmas” was entered in the Urban Dictionary on January 31, 2005.
 
“Hallothanksmas” was printed in the Akron (OH) Beacon Journal on November 28, 1966. “Hallothanksmas” was entered in the Urban Dictionary on November 27, 2005.

According to the calendar, it’s officially fall. However, if you’re waiting for leaves to change colors, forget about it. The only thing that changes color in Florida this time of year is the color of license plates as the snowbirds return.
 
My only complaint with this time of year is the fact that whenever I walk into big box stores, I see Halloween costumes, Thanksgiving decorations and Christmas trees. Yep. And we haven’t even reached Halloween yet. I call it Hallothanksmas. At the chamber, we’d rather take it one event at a time.
