“Have you heard about the evil group of men who control all the world’s cheese? The Hallouminati!”

“Hallouminati” (halloumi + Illuminati) is a jocular food portmanteau word. “I NEED cheese & I can’t escape the feeling.  Hallouminati want my mind, soul & my body.  Cheesy society trying to keep they’re eye on me” was posted on Twitter on April 9, 2010. “Is there a name for the cheese society? There should be, it should the the hallouminati” was posted on Twitter on September 12, 2011. “Some believe that the cheese industry is secretly controlled by the hallouminati” was posted on Twitter on January 16, 2012.

English comedian Nick Helm said at the Edinburgh (Scotland) Festival Fringe in August 2014:

“Have you heard about the evil group of men who control all the world’s cheese? The hallouminati.”

Wikipedia: Halloumi
Halloumi /həˈluːmi/ (Greek: χαλλούμι) or hellim (Turkish) (from Arabic: حلوم‎ ḥallūm [ħalˈluːm]) is a Cypriot semi-hard, unripened brined cheese made from a mixture of goat’s and sheep’s milk, and sometimes also cow’s milk. It has a high melting point and so can easily be fried or grilled. Halloumi is set with rennet and is unusual in that no acid or acid-producing bacterium is used in its preparation.

Halloumi is popular in the Levant, Greece and Turkey. It has recently become very popular in the United Kingdom.

Wikipedia: Illuminati
The Illuminati (plural of Latin illuminatus, “enlightened”) is a name given to several groups, both real and fictitious. Historically, the name usually refers to the Bavarian Illuminati, an Enlightenment-era secret society founded on 1 May 1776. The society’s goals were to oppose superstition, obscurantism, religious influence over public life, and abuses of state power. “The order of the day,” they wrote in their general statutes, “is to put an end to the machinations of the purveyors of injustice, to control them without dominating them.” The Illuminati—along with Freemasonry and other secret societies—were outlawed through edict, by the Bavarian ruler, Charles Theodore, with the encouragement of the Roman Catholic Church, in 1784, 1785, 1787, and 1790. In the several years following, the group was vilified by conservative and religious critics who claimed that they continued underground and were responsible for the French Revolution.
