“He who has not Christmas in his heart will never find it under a tree”

“He who has no Christmas in his heart will never find Christmas under a tree.” was cited in the Evening World-Herald (Omaha, NE) in a 1946 listing for the First Lutheran Church. “He who has no Christmas in his heart will never find it under a tree” was cited in a California newspaper in 1954.

“He who has not Christmas in his heart will never find it under a tree” was cited in a 1966 book, where it was credited to Methodist preacher Dr. Roy Lemon Smith (1887-1963). Roy L. Smith is usually credited with the saying, but it is still uncertain when it was first said.

The saying has been printed on many images.
