“Hip hop onions are rap scallions”

If a scallion starts to rhyme, does that make it a “rap scallion”? There have been many puns.

“And J.M. is an unsavory rap-scallion”/“Scallions do rap music? I did not know that” was posted on the newsgroup rec.music.beatles on July 18, 1996. “Rap Scallion, the Hip Hop Onion” was posted on Twitter on April 26, 2011.

“What do you call a badass onion that knows how to freestyle? A rap scallion” was posted on Reddit—Dad Jokes on August 27, 2014. “I was eating green onions when all of a sudden, I started rhyming everything that I was saying. It turns out, they were rap scallions” was posted on Reddit—Dad Jokes on February 27, 2018.

If I had a rap group I’d call us “The Rap Scallions” and we’d all wear onion-themed outfits. Related: this is why I don’t have a rap group.
