“Home sweet office” is a work saying that has been printed on many images. The saying is based on the song “Home Sweet Home” that John Howard Payne (1791-1852) wrote for the opera Clari, the Maid of Milan (1823).
 
“Home, sweet office” was printed in the Binghamton (NY) Press on December 5, 1958. The “home sweet office” expression has been popular since the 1990s. when computers and the internet made working at home more popular.
   
Similar work-related sayings include “Cubicle sweet cubicle,” “Home sweet home office” and “Office sweet office.”
