"I once had a job with the circus as a trapeze artist, but I was let go” is a joke that was posted on Twitter by Ken3ie 5trick|and on May 19, 2009. “Stewart Francis - ‘I was a trapeze artist, but I was let go.’ #MTW” was posted on Twitter by Comedy Corner on February 4, 2010.
The joke is probably from Canadian comedian Stewart Francis, who told it on the British topical, satirical celebrity panel show Mock the Week.

Above, a 1934 plaque from the Big Apple Night Club at West 135th Street and Seventh Avenue in Harlem. Discarded as trash in 2006. Now a Popeyes fast food restaurant on Google Maps.
