“I used to be liberal. Then I left home & got a job”

“I used to be liberal. Then I left home & got a job” is a saying that has been printed on many images. “Stickers we jus saw on a truck: (...) Other sticker said - I used to be liberal then I left home and got a job” was posted on Twitter by Charlotte’s Web on May 24, 2020.

The “I used to be liberal. Then I left home & got a job” bumper sticker was put on a bag by a Southwest Airlines pilot. Theresa Lenz (@theresalenz) tweeted on August 25, 2022:

”@SouthwestAir is this really the type of garbage you allow your pilots to have on their work bags? As a liberal woman (with a job, thanks very much) who flies your airline often with my kids (who are of reading age), this is downright offensive. pic.twitter.com/H8ODcXoSit”

The tweet generated much discussion on Twitter and @theresalenz was set to private, preventing many people from commenting on the tweet.

Southwest Airlines Pilot: ‘I Used To Be Liberal, Then I Left Home And Got A Job’
by Gary Leff on August 26, 2022
Last year pilots were making announcements “Let’s Go Brandon” and that made it into air traffic control chatter too. I thought this had died out, and was now being crowded out by the counter Dark Brandon meme but pilots are still bringing their politics on board with them.

Here’s a Southwest Airlines pilot with a “I used to be liberal / Then I left home and got a job” sticker on his bag.

A Southwest Airlines pilot has been spotted waiting to board a flight in uniform with a large politically-motivated slogan sticker attached to his crew bag which read: “I used to be liberal. Then I left home & got a job”.

The sticker has been branded as “offensive” and “disgusting” after Theresa Lenz from Washington DC shared the photo in a tweet on Thursday.
