“I worked in an office on a cul-de-sac. It was a dead end job”

A dead end street is sometimes called a cul-de-sac. There are several cul-de-sac jokes relating to a “dead end job.”

“I used to work in a cul-de-sac but it was dead end job…” was posted on Twitter by Julian S Wood on January 30, 2010. “Building a cul-de-sac would be a bit of a dead-end job” was posted on Twitter by Starski111 on June 7, 2011. “Building cul-de-sacs is a dead end job” was posted on Twitter by Johnny Normality (Still Spooky Mode) on February 8, 2018.

“i worked in an office on a cul de sac it was a dead end job” was posted on Twitter by keepingitcreel on September 26, 2018. “i worked in an office on a cul de sac : it was a dead end job” was posted on Twitter by Pirate World on September 27, 2018. The joke probably originated on Reddit—Oneliners (and was possibly deleted).

“I live on a cul-de-sac, which is French for ‘Everybody here is white‘“ and “Is a cul-de-sac a spoon in the road?” are other cul-de-sac sayings.

Wikipedia: Dead end (street)
A dead end, also known as a cul-de-sac (/ˈkʌldəsæk, ˈkʊl-/, from French for ‘bag-bottom’ ), no through road or no exit road, is a street with only one inlet or outlet.

The term “dead end” is understood in all varieties of English, but the official terminology and traffic signs include many different alternatives. Some of these are used only regionally. In the United States and other countries, cul-de-sac is often not an exact synonym for dead end and refers to dead ends with a circular end, allowing for easy turning at the end of the road. In Australia and Canada, they are usually referred to as a court when they have a bulbous end.
