“If anyone tells you your dreams are silly, there’s a millionaire who invented the pool noodle”

"If anyone ever tells you your dreams are silly, remember there’s some millionaire walking around who invented the Pool Noodle” is a jocular line that has been printed on several images. The saying was posted on Twitter by Eliza Bayne on March 10, 2013.

Steve Hartman, the CEO and president of Industrial Thermal Polymers, invented the pool noodle in the 1980s.

Wikipedia: Pool noodle
A pool noodle or woggle is a cylindrical piece of buoyant polyethylene foam, sometimes hollow. Noodles are used by people of all ages while swimming.

Pool noodles are useful when learning to swim, for floating, for rescue reaching, in various forms of water play, and for aquatic exercise. The most common dimensions are about 160 centimetres (63 in) in length and 7 centimetres (2.8 in) in diameter. The pool noodle is also used for people who experience difficulties in swimming.

Steve Hartman is the CEO and president of Industrial Thermal Polymers, but he’s got another claim to fam: He’s the guy who first decided that colorful foam tubes make a pretty fun pool toy.

Hartman invented the pool noodle three decades ago when he first went into business with his dad in Toronto, Canada.
