“If I spend 100 minutes with Geico, will I get free car insurance?”

A famous tagline for GEICO insurance ads is: “15 minutes could save you 15% or more on car insurance.” If you spend more than 15 minutes, could you save more money?

“If I spend 100 minutes chatting with GEICO, does that mean I can get free car insurance?” was posted on Twitter on November 22, 2009. “If spending 15 minutes saves me 15% then spending 100 minutes with Geico will save me 100% on my car insurance!!!! #trollface” was posted on Twitter on March 19, 2011.

Wikipedia: GEICO
The Government Employees Insurance Company (GEICO /ˈɡaɪkoʊ/) is an American auto insurance company headquartered in Chevy Chase, Maryland. It is the second largest auto insurer in the United States, after State Farm. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway that as of 2017 provided coverage for more than 24 million motor vehicles owned by more than 15 million policy holders. GEICO writes private passenger automobile insurance in all 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia. GEICO sells its policies through local agents, called GEICO Field Representatives, and over the phone directly to the consumer, and through their website. Its mascot is a gold dust day gecko with a Cockney accent, voiced by English actor Jake Wood. GEICO is well known in popular culture for its advertising, having made a large number of commercials intended to entertain viewers.

Wikipedia: GEICO advertising campaigns
GEICO advertising campaigns are known for using surreal humor and satire, often featuring distinctive characters such as the company’s mascot, the GEICO gecko. The advertising strategy incorporates a saturation-level amount of print (primarily mail circulars) and television parody advertisements, as well as radio advertisements. A common line used by GEICO is “15 minutes could save you 15% or more on car insurance.”
