“Money doesn’t grow on trees” is an old American proverb. American humorist Robert Orben wrote a variation in his book 2400 Jokes to Brighten Your Speeches (1984):

“Lazy? If money grew on trees, he’d stand around with a rake waiting for autumn.”

“Happy Autumn? Now I’d be really excited if money started growing on trees” was posted on Twitter on September 23, 2009. “If money grew on trees fall would be way more poplar” was posted on Twitter on October 27, 2009. “If money grew on trees my favourite season would be fall” was posted on Twitter on May 8, 2010.

“If money grew on trees, autumn would be the best season ever! Happy Fall!” was printed on an ecard.
