“If you can imagine it, you can achieve it. If you can dream it, you can become it”

“If you can imagine it, you can achieve it. If you can dream it, you can become it” is a popular saying that has been printed on many posters. The lines come from American writer Williams Arthur Ward (1921-1994). who wrote in For This One Hour (1969):

“If you can imagine it, you can possess it.
If you can dream it, you can become it.
If you can envision it, you can attain it.
If you can picture it, you can achieve it.”

The last two lines are usually not cited, and “you can possess it” is usually changed to “you can achieve it” or “you can create it.” “If you can imagine it, you can achieve it; if you dream it, you can become it” was cited in 1979, when it was printed on a poster.
