Both “watching paint dry” and “watching grass grow” are classically unexciting things; sometimes these activities are combined. “Any day now…  Its like watching fruit ripen, paint dry, and grass grow all at the same time!” was posted on Twitter on May 6, 2009. “No I painted the grass and managed to watch grass grow and paint dry at the same time instead” was posted on the newsgroup uk.people.silversurfers on June 8, 2009.
