“I’m a writer. Anything you say or do may be used in a story”

“I’m a writer. Anything you say or do may be used in a story” is a jocular saying that has been printed on many images. The saying parodies Miranda warnings (“You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can be used against you in court”).

“WARNING: Anything you say or do may be used in a story. @JournalistsLike” was posted on Twitter by Marian Daniells on January 9, 2012. “Just seen a poster that said ‘I am a writer. Anything you say or do may be used in a story.’ #want #need” was posted on Twitter by sabah on March 13, 2012. The saying probably originated from an image.

Great advice, Linda. I couldn’t help noticing the following statement in your bio blurb: “She finds great joy (and excellent writing material) in time spent with her family.” That reminds me of a mug that one of my daughters gave to me a while back that has on it these words: “I am a writer. Anything you say or do may be used in a story!”
