In 2022, Elon Musk bought the microblogging, social networking service Twitter, and many of these same people stated that they would leave Twitter. “‘I’m leaving Twitter’ is the new ‘I’m moving to Canada’” became a popular meme.

The 2018 citations referred to conservatives (not liberals) leaving Twitter.
