Ineptocracy (inept + democracy)

“Ineptocracy” (inept + democracy) has been given a popular definition on many websites and images since at least October 2011:

Ineptocracy (in-ep-toc’-Ra-cy) - a system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.

“Ineptocracy” has been cited in print since at least 1992 and 1996. The term was popularized by a March 2, 2006 post on the blog Daily Kos, “A New Word for the English Language - Ineptocracy” by deepsouthdoug. That post referred to the presidency of George W. Bush. The term “ineptocracy” appeared on many websites in October and November 2011 referring to the presidency of Barack Obama.

An older term meaning a government by the worst people is “kakistocracy.”

A New Word for the English Language - Ineptocracy
by deepsouthdoug
As I watched the tapes of brain dead Bush doing nothing before Katrina slammed into the Gulf, I had my usual visceral reaction that Bush is inept and incompetent and this tape was more proof of it.  Then I had one of those eureka moment - Bush has really institutionalized ineptness.

Bush’s government is based on Ineptocracy.

Now to begin we have to visit the definition of inept:

Inept - generally incompetent and ineffectual
(...)
Ineptocracy - the belief that rulers should be chosen for their generally incompetent and ineffectual qualities.
(...)
Ineptocracy spawns a couple of other words.  We have the noun Ineptocrat:

Ineptocrat, noun - an official of an ineptocracy
(Alternate definition - someone who isn’t worth a pinch of dog shit)

And we have the adjective Ineptocratic:

Ineptocratic, adjective - of or relating to or resembling an ineptocrat or an ineptocracy

I borrowed the term “Ineptocrat” from some Israelis who coined it to describe those who started their recent, futile, war in Lebanon…

@bernardjenkin Bravo! Your existence is not entirely in vain. Creating work for Cameron’s victims is better than building a Tory ineptocracy
