“It was so cold that I saw a Greyhound bus drive by and the dog was on the inside”

A Greyhound bus usually has an illustration of a greyhound dog on the outside. “I didn’t know it was this cold in Cleveland. I saw a Greyhound bus, the dog was on the inside,” Cedric the Entertainer was quoted in January 2007.  “It’s so cold outside, I went by a Greyhound bus and the dog was on the inside looking out at me,” he was quoted in a February 2007 newspaper.

The joke has been printed in many “It’s so cold that…” joke collections, usually without credit to Cedric the Entertainer (who possibly did not say it first).

Since October 2007, Greyhound has been a subsidiary of British transportation company FirstGroup, but continues to be based in Dallas, Texas, where it has been headquartered since 1987. Greyhound and sister companies in FirstGroup America are the largest motorcoach operators in the United States and Canada.

It was one of those nights when Cedric was being himself. Cedric ‘The Entertainer’ was doing one of his comic shows at Foxwoods Resort Casino located in Connecticut. Just off the recent release of his latest movie “Code Name: The Cleaner’, one of America’s funniest comedians took the stage in front of two sell out crowds at the Fox Theater.

New England in January is one of the coldest places anywhere. “It’s so cold outside,” said Cedric. “I went by a Greyhound bus and the dog was on the inside looking out at me.” That along with many other lines kept the crowd laughing out of their seats.

“I arrived at the voting station on a cold Monday, at 11:30am only the workers were there, all white. It was so cold on voting day, on the way to the voting station I saw on a Greyhound Bus, it was so cold, the dog was running on the inside.”
