“It’s never too early to change the oil” (automotive adage)

“As the old saying goes, it’s never too early to change oil…..and in general it’s pretty cheap” was cited on a forum message board in July 2013. It’s not known where this automotive adage began.

“Personally, I think its never too early to change the oil” was cited in June 2003. “It’s never too soon to change the oil, you know” was cited in July 2003.

Personally, I think its never too early to change the oil but frankly following the 3k miles recommended change using quality synthetics and a decent oil filter I think is wasteful. john

But while we’re on the subject: have you changed the oil and safety-wired your drain plug and oil filter yet? It’s never too soon to change the oil, you know.

RE:SURVEY: how frequently your change the engine oil?
This is my age old practise:- Normal Oil = 5k ~ 6k kms Semi-Syn = 8k kms Full-Syn = 10k ~ 12k kms When engine oil nears the end of the cycle, FC is very bad. So if you planning to travel long journey, best change your engine before travelling. Overall you saving in millage can cover at least half of you engine oil, plus engine more responsive. Every one or two month, open your engine oil cap and look at your cam/ engine condition. With good lubrication your cam/ engine should be sludge free and look shinny clean. Like old mechanic saying, it’s never too early to change your engine oil. Only how much $$$ you willing spend on your car.

Never too soon to change oil especially if you own stock in oil. With that being said everyone had their own thoughts on this.
