“It’s nice to see Blood oranges and Cripps apples side-by-side in harmony in produce”

“Bloods” and “Crips” are the names of rival gangs in California. There are “blood oranges” and “Cripps Red”/“Cripps Pink” apples, and there have been several jokes.

“Should I keep the Cripps apples separate from the blood oranges in the fridge?  I’d hate to have a rumble in the crisper drawer” was posted on Twitter by GNate on April 12, 2009. “Are Cripps apples the enemies of Blood Oranges?” was posted on Twitter by Doug McGuffog on October 26, 2009.

“It’s always nice to go to the produce aisle and see Blood oranges and Cripps apples side-by-side in harmony” was posted on Reddit—Shower Thoughts on August 21, 2018.

“Blood oranges imply the existence of Crip oranges” and “High blood pressure implies the existence of high crip pressure” are related jokes.

I refuse to take sides in the vicious gang war between Cripps apples and Blood oranges. Can’t we all just get along? And make fruit salad?

At the grocery and I saw there is an apple called a Cripps Apple.  I wonder if the Cripps Apples don’t get along with the Blood Oranges.
